Hamyang-gun Conducts Special Emission Inspections on Vehicles During Seasonal Management Period Hamyang County Office building exterior view

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 6th that it will conduct special emission inspections on diesel vehicles, which have a high proportion of fine dust emissions, during the fine dust seasonal management period.

This inspection is planned to target old diesel vehicles, cargo trucks, and buses with high fine dust emissions among operating vehicles to reduce air pollution caused by vehicle emissions and fuel loss. Emission inspections and idling (over 5 minutes) inspections will be conducted simultaneously.

Vehicles found to exceed the standards during this inspection will be advised to improve and maintain their vehicles. Owners of vehicles who receive an improvement order must submit the improvement results within 15 days.

If not complied with, the vehicle will be subject to a suspension of operation for up to 10 days. A fine of 200,000 KRW may be imposed if the inspection is refused or obstructed.

A county official said, “We ask for the active cooperation of all residents in reducing vehicle emissions and avoiding unnecessary idling to reduce fine dust generation in winter,” and added, “We will continue to promote awareness and do our best to reduce fine dust.”
