[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk held an emergency countermeasure meeting on the 5th to prevent the spread of COVID-19 cluster infections.
The meeting held at the Disaster Comprehensive Situation Room was presided over by Vice Mayor Kim Ju-ryeong, with attendance from heads of national and local offices, and department heads related to high-risk facilities and cluster outbreak facilities.
After the phased recovery of daily life, sporadic cluster infections occurred in hospitals, schools, religious facilities, and villages, raising anxiety within the region. In response, the city strengthened quarantine measures such as comprehensive inspections of cluster outbreak facilities and suspension of visits to high-risk facilities like nursing hospitals and nursing homes.
During the meeting, opinions were exchanged to guide and inspect compliance with quarantine rules at nursing hospitals, nursing homes, senior citizen centers, and welfare centers used by the elderly, and to thoroughly manage workers through facility managers.
They also discussed actively encouraging additional vaccinations, special management of facilities where cluster infections occurred, strengthening special quarantine inspections by sector including companies, construction sites, and entertainment establishments, disseminating recent cluster outbreak situations to related organizations and associations, and urging strict compliance with quarantine rules.
The city decided to set a one-week guidance period to adjust the number of private gatherings and block infections among unvaccinated individuals during the four weeks starting December 6.
Additional facilities where the quarantine pass will be applied, such as restaurants, cafes, academies, movie theaters, performance halls, PC rooms, and museums, will have related information posted on the city’s website and social media to inform citizens.
Official documents and text messages will be sent to associations by facility and industry to ensure that additional special quarantine measures proceed swiftly, and on-site inspections will be strengthened.
Vice Mayor Kim Ju-ryeong said, “To overcome the quarantine crisis and respond to variant viruses, it is crucial to comply with basic quarantine rules, vaccinate the unvaccinated, and administer the third dose to seniors aged 60 and over.” He added, “All public officials must maintain the highest vigilance and respond with full force to strengthen special quarantine inspections by sector including high-risk facilities.”
