SteelShop, Emerging as a 'Customized Steel Sales Platform' Centered on Demand
Small-Quantity and Small-Load Rebar Delivery, Real-Time Inventory Sharing of Shaped Steel, Expert Consultation on Construction Solutions
Rapid Growth Since Launch in May
'Thick Plate Ultra-Short Delivery' Repurchase Rate Exceeds 75%
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Dongkuk Steel has expanded the product range of its steel online platform 'Steelshop' from heavy plates to the entire product lineup. Through this second phase opening, rebar, shaped steel, and cold-rolled products are now available for online purchase.
Launched in May, Dongkuk Steel's Steelshop is a customized steel sales platform that deeply analyzes the needs of demand-side customers. To overcome the limitations of B2B bulk sales, Dongkuk Steel actively listened to improvement requests from customers and reflected their needs.
With the second phase opening, Steelshop introduces customer-friendly services for each product category. For rebar, considering that small construction sites have low purchase volumes and narrow access roads that make it difficult for large vehicles to enter, a 'small quantity and small transport service' is provided. Instead of the existing 25-ton large vehicles, a dedicated 10-ton Steelshop vehicle delivers directly to the site. The product lineup includes the most in-demand SD400 as well as SD500 and SD600, covering the entire product range.
For shaped steel, a stock-sharing platform was established to seek mutual growth with distributors. On Steelshop, customers can check shaped steel distributors' inventory in real time and make bulk purchases of various types. This improves the inconvenience of having to visit in person or make phone inquiries to buy desired products due to the variety of shapes and sizes depending on use. Collaboration with small and medium-sized distributors is expected to pioneer new sales channels and revitalize the market.
For cold-rolled and color-coated steel products, various surface treatments and color-coated steel products are available for purchase. Additionally, a direct communication line with customers has been established. Through Steelshop, customers can consult directly with cold-rolled and color-coated steel experts and receive total solution consultations from architectural processing to construction.
Since its initial launch in May, Dongkuk Steel's Steelshop has secured over 350 client companies within six months. Among them, new customer sign-ups account for half, and the actual purchase rate of new customers reaches about 80%. In particular, the 'heavy plate ultra-short delivery' service, which transformed the existing heavy plate order and delivery system that took about 2 to 3 months, received high consumer response.
Meanwhile, to commemorate the expansion of Steelshop, Dongkuk Steel is giving gifticons to the first 100 new customers who sign up by the 31st of this month, and is holding a tablet giveaway event for customers purchasing heavy plates, rebar, shaped steel, and cold-rolled products. Detailed information can be found on Steelshop.
