[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] With the official launch of the People Power Party's election campaign committee on the 6th, both ruling and opposition parties have now formed their presidential election teams for next year. The parties will now enter a 93-day head-to-head battle, presenting their policy visions and more.

The People Power Party, which launched its campaign committee a step later than the Democratic Party of Korea, presented "Resolving COVID-19 Polarization" as its primary pledge. Kim Jong-in, the People Power Party's overall election campaign committee chairman who took the helm after persistent persuasion, stated in a media interview that he would run the election with "resolving economic polarization" as the forefront issue. With Chairman Kim's joining, the campaign committee's lineup was completed. Former lawmakers Geum Tae-seop and Yoon Hee-sook joined, strengthening the centrist and pragmatic stance.

On the afternoon of the same day, the People Power Party held the central election campaign committee launch ceremony at the KSPO Dome in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, said, "Politics is done not by a single 'person' but by 'people,'" adding, "We have strived to create a nationally unifying campaign committee that transcends barriers of gender, generation, region, and ideology, and we will operate it accordingly."

Since the launch of its campaign committee, the Democratic Party of Korea has accelerated the announcement of policy pledges through reform efforts and held a "National Campaign Committee with Small Business Owners" on the same day. The Democratic Party is also placing economic recovery from COVID-19 at the center of its election strategy.

Meanwhile, Sim Sang-jung, the Justice Party's presidential candidate, and Ahn Cheol-soo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, are scheduled to meet on the same day to discuss "third zone cooperation." Both sides plan to draw a line against candidate unification but coordinate voices for political reform, including breaking away from the two-party system.
