Muan-gun 'Comprehensive Food Industry Plan' Final Approval

Benefits Including Eligibility for National Funding Applications Granted for 5 Years Until 2026

[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] The comprehensive five-year plan for the food industry established by Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, has recently received final approval from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

According to the county on the 6th, the comprehensive food industry plan was established with the goal of preparing an agricultural vision through comprehensive analysis and support investment, including the establishment of production, processing, and distribution plans for food crops including rice, appropriate investment plans, farmer organization, and improvement of the operating rate of existing facilities for the next five years from 2022 to 2026 by forming the Food Industry Development Council chaired by the county governor.

To this end, since March, Muan-gun has held a working council composed of practical managers from related departments of the local Nonghyup operating the Rice Processing Complex (RPC) and Rice Drying and Storage Facility (DSC), as well as representatives of field management bodies and food crop production organizations to discuss overall matters for establishing the comprehensive plan.

With the final approval of this food industry development plan, Muan-gun will be given priority qualification for various national fund applications over the next five years, and has secured various incentives such as allocation of public stockpiled rice, supply of government-certified seeds, and additional support for RPC rice purchase funds.

County Governor Kim San stated, “Based on the approved comprehensive food industry plan, we plan to enact ordinances for fostering and supporting the food industry to establish a high-quality safe agricultural product production and supply system, organize farmers, and ensure the solid implementation of the comprehensive plan and stable production of food for the people.”
