[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Jeju Development Corporation announced on the 6th that it presented the results of research conducted in 2020 and 2021 at the 17th International Water Resources Association (IWRA) World Water Congress.
Jeju Development Corporation utilized the latest big data-based deep learning artificial intelligence to analyze the impact of Jeju Samdasoo water extraction on the groundwater levels in surrounding areas. Additionally, using stable isotopes of precipitation and groundwater, they analyzed the groundwater recharge altitude within the Jeju Samdasoo watershed, which serves as the source of Jeju Samdasoo, in Hallasan Mountain.
According to the presentation, no impact was observed on the fluctuations of groundwater levels in surrounding areas due to the volume of groundwater extraction for Jeju Samdasoo production. The recharge altitude of Jeju Samdasoo was identified as the clean highlands of Hallasan National Park above 1450 m, establishing a foundation for sustainable groundwater use and management.
Jeju Development Corporation has established the R&D Innovation Center, a specialized research and development organization for scientific groundwater management, and is conducting groundwater conservation and management research using the latest research techniques to strengthen sustainable groundwater use and quality control of Jeju Samdasoo. This academic presentation was conducted as part of these research and development efforts.
