[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Broadcaster Kim Gura revealed that he was once offered a fixed member position on KBS 2TV's variety show '1 Night 2 Days.'
On the 3rd, a video titled 'Year-end Bomber Kim Gura's Return' was uploaded to Kim Gura's YouTube channel 'GuraCheol.' In the video, Kim Gura confessed that during his rookie days, KBS offered him a fixed spot on a famous show, surprising those around him.
Kim Gura explained, "KBS actually cannot pay appearance fees like MBC or SBS. So they give many opportunities to rookies," adding, "I also benefited a lot from KBS. I was once offered a fixed member position on '1 Night 2 Days.'"
He added, "At that time, I was receiving about 1 to 1.5 million won per guest appearance."
However, Kim Gura chose to appear on another variety show instead of KBS's '1 Night 2 Days.' He said, "Actually, I had a 100-episode contract with MBC at that time," and explained, "Looking back now, not appearing on '1 Night 2 Days' seems like a foolish choice, but at the time, choosing MBC was reasonable because the appearance fees were higher."
He continued, "(MBC) recognized my value and gave me a considerable amount of money upfront," emphasizing, "On '1 Night 2 Days,' I would have been under Kang Ho-dong, so rather than that, MBC's variety shows were better. Although I wasn't exactly a top star alongside Kim Je-dong, my status within the program was higher. This means that sometimes going to a smaller show can be better for showcasing one's abilities."
