野 "Are All People Raised Poorly Swearing at Their Sister-in-Law?"

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The People Power Party criticized Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party candidate, saying, "He is blaming all the events in his life on his 'lowly origins,'" and added, "This is a pathetic emotional appeal by Lee that leads to belittling the people."

On the 5th, Lee Yang-su, the senior spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary, "'From the Daejang-dong Gate scandal allegations, the controversy over being a lawyer for murderers, the suspicion of lawyer fee payments, to the controversy over insulting his sister-in-law,' claiming all of these are due to his 'lowly origins' is a forced interpretation. It is a transparent tactic by Lee to try to overcome numerous suspicions he must explain to the public with outdated emotional appeals," he said.

The spokesperson pointed out, "Being born poor is neither a sin nor something to be ashamed of," and added, "None of the jobs Lee mentioned?'cleaner,' 'Yakult delivery person,' 'sewing machine operator,' or 'construction worker'?are lowly. It is not the surroundings but Lee's own perception that is vulgar and pathetic."

He continued, "Before it is too late, he must bow his head and apologize for his remarks that belittle the people who work honestly and sweat in their respective positions," and argued, "The only minimum duty to the people is for Lee to undergo a special investigation as soon as possible so that the suspicions related to him are transparently revealed."

Seong Il-jong, a member of the People Power Party, also criticized on Facebook, saying, "Saying that because someone comes from a lowly family, if you dig around, you will find many dirty things is an insult to the people," and added, "Do you think living in poverty means living like Lee? Never make such sophistry again. Are all people who grew up poor cursing their sisters-in-law and defending gangster murderers?"

He then pointedly remarked, "If you were born and raised in a lowly family, you should know how to stand on the side of the weak, but isn’t the shameless administrative act of funneling astronomical Daejang-dong profits to seven people what is truly lowly?"
