[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 5th, the Democratic Party of Korea criticized Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, saying, "Candidate Yoon, who is about to launch a patchwork campaign committee, is rather facing a leadership crisis," and added, "If he has fully prepared for national governance after making a hundred concessions, he must prove it. Now, he should stop hiding and confidently debate in front of the people."
Cho Seung-rae, chief spokesperson of the Democratic Party's campaign committee, said in a briefing that day, "In Busan, Candidate Yoon boasted that he would give full authority of the campaign committee to Representative Lee, and Chairman Kim Jong-in was appointed as the general campaign committee chairman on the condition that he would be given full authority to operate the campaign committee," adding, "I don't know how many full authorities there are, but it is no different from Candidate Yoon declaring that he will do nothing himself."
He pointed out, "From the reconciliation process, Candidate Yoon was a supporting actor and seems to have had the leadership of the campaign committee taken away by Chairman Kim," and said, "It is unclear whether Candidate Yoon is being overshadowed by Chairman Kim or is hiding behind him."
Chief Spokesperson Cho contrasted this with Candidate Lee Jae-myung, who has been leading changes in the Democratic Party including the campaign committee over the past month, saying, "Candidate Yoon has clung to the '3 Kim system' for a month, been swayed by the 'Yoon core group,' and been dragged along by Representative Lee and Chairman Kim."
He continued, "It was a time when Candidate Yoon admitted that he could do nothing alone," and questioned, "With such leadership, can he really say he is ready to take charge of national affairs?" He then proposed, "We will acknowledge Candidate Yoon's claims, so he should stop hiding and now confidently debate in front of the people."
