Seoul Reports 2,273 New Cases... Highest Ever

After the 'gradual return to daily life,' the number of new COVID-19 cases soared past 5,000, reaching a record high on the 4th. Both COVID-19 deaths and critically ill patients also set new record highs, and the number of confirmed cases of the new variant virus Omicron increased by 3.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight, 5,352 new cases were confirmed, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 467,907.
The number of new confirmed cases increased by 408 compared to the previous day (4,944). It is 87 more than the previous record high of 5,265 on the 2nd.
Compared to last Friday's confirmed cases (4,067 on the 27th, announced on Saturday), it is 1,285 more.
Domestic new confirmed cases have maintained a serious situation for four consecutive days since surpassing 5,000 for the first time on the 1st (5,123 cases).
The number of COVID-19 deaths reached a record high of 70. The previous record was 56 on the 28th of last month. The number jumped sharply from the 60s to the 70s. The cumulative death toll is 3,809, with a domestic cumulative fatality rate of 0.81%.
The number of critically ill patients increased by 16 from the previous day to 752. It has been rising for four consecutive days (723 → 733 → 736 → 752).
Seoul's new COVID-19 cases also set a new record at 2,273, breaking the previous record set two days ago.
This is 5 more than the previous record of 2,268 on the 1st.
The daily death toll in Seoul also reached a record high of 30. The previous record was 26 on the 27th. The cumulative death toll is 1,178.
The number of infections with the new COVID-19 variant Omicron also increased by 3, bringing the total to 9.
These three are the wife and mother-in-law of B, an acquaintance of A, the first domestic infected person who visited Nigeria, and another acquaintance.
After being confirmed positive for COVID-19 on the 30th of last month, whole genome sequencing was conducted to determine variant infection, and they were finally confirmed as Omicron variant infections.
