124 Confirmed Cases in Gyeongnam... Health Authorities 'On Alert' Due to Rising Cluster Infections

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] As of 5 p.m. on the 3rd, Gyeongsangnam-do announced that 124 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported within the province.

By region, there are 40 in Yangsan, 17 in Haman, 23 in Changwon, 13 in Tongyeong, 9 in Gimhae, 6 each in Jinju and Geoje, 4 in Miryang, 2 in Sancheong, and 1 each in Uiryeong, Changnyeong, Goseong, and Namhae.

Regarding the infection routes, half of the confirmed cases, 62 people, had contact with confirmed cases within the province such as family and acquaintances, and 6 people tested positive after contact with confirmed cases in Seoul and Busan respectively.

Among the 40 confirmed cases in Yangsan, 21 were contacts of confirmed cases within the province: 10 family members, 5 acquaintances, 4 contacts through movement paths, and 2 coworkers. Fourteen were tested due to personal request or symptom onset, and their infection routes are under investigation.

Two are family members of confirmed cases related to a middle school located in Yangsan. The cumulative number of related confirmed cases has increased to 51. One is an acquaintance of a confirmed case related to a workplace located in Yangsan. The cumulative number of related confirmed cases is 29. One is a family member of a Busan confirmed case. One is a family member of a Seoul confirmed case.

Among the 23 confirmed cases in Changwon, one is a family member of a confirmed case related to a childcare and education facility located in Changwon and tested positive during a pre-release quarantine test. The cumulative number of related confirmed cases has increased to 38. Ten are contacts of confirmed cases within the province: 7 acquaintances, 2 family members, and 1 contact through movement paths. Two are acquaintances of confirmed cases in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, and Busan respectively. Ten were tested due to symptom onset, and their infection routes are under investigation.

Among the 17 confirmed cases in Haman, 5 are contacts of confirmed cases within the province: 3 acquaintances and 2 family members. Three were tested due to symptom onset, and their infection routes are under investigation. The remaining 9 and one confirmed case in Uiryeong are coworkers of a confirmed case related to a senior citizens' center meeting located in Haman. The cumulative number of related confirmed cases is 39.

Among the 13 confirmed cases in Tongyeong, 10 are contacts of workers at a senior welfare facility located in Tongyeong: 3 family members, 1 coworker, and 6 acquaintances. One is a family member of a confirmed case within the province who was tested due to symptom onset during quarantine. One is an acquaintance of a Busan confirmed case. The remaining one was tested due to symptom onset, and the infection route is under investigation.

Among the 9 confirmed cases in Gimhae, 3 are acquaintances and family members of confirmed cases within the province: 1 acquaintance and 2 family members. One is a coworker of a Busan confirmed case. Five were tested due to symptom onset, and their infection routes are under investigation.

Among the 6 confirmed cases in Jinju, 4 are family members of confirmed cases within the province. Two were tested due to symptom onset, and their infection routes are under investigation.

Among the 6 confirmed cases in Geoje, 3 are family members, acquaintances, or contacts through movement paths of confirmed cases within the province. Three were tested due to symptom onset, and their infection routes are under investigation.

Among the 4 confirmed cases in Miryang, one is a family member of a confirmed case within the province. Three were tested upon personal request, and their infection routes are under investigation.

The 2 confirmed cases in Sancheong are an acquaintance and a family member of confirmed cases within the province respectively.

The one confirmed case in Namhae was tested due to symptom onset, and the infection route is under investigation.

The one confirmed case in Changnyeong is a coworker of a confirmed case within the province. The one confirmed case in Goseong is an acquaintance of a confirmed case within the province.

Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has increased to 15,391 (988 hospitalized, 14,350 discharged, 53 deceased).
