Assemblyman Kim Seung-nam Appointed as Member of the National Assembly Special Committee on Political Reform

[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Kim Seung-nam, Member of the National Assembly (Jeonnam Goheung·Boseong·Jangheung·Gangjin), announced on the 3rd that he has been appointed as a member of the National Assembly's Special Committee on Political Reform (Jeonggae Special Committee).

The National Assembly Jeonggae Special Committee discusses ▲constitutional incompatibility issues related to the Public Official Election Act (local election district delimitation, noise regulation of loudspeakers) ▲adjustment of the age of eligibility for candidacy (currently 25 years or older) ▲and other matters related to public official elections agreed upon by the party floor leaders.

Democratic Party of Korea member Kim Tae-nyeon serves as the chair of the special committee, and members Kim Young-bae, Kim Min-chul, Kim Seung-nam, Lee Jung-moon, Lee Tan-hee, Jang Kyung-tae, Jung Chun-sook, and Hong Jung-min were appointed as members.

The People Power Party appointed Jo Hae-jin, Kang Dae-sik, Kang Min-guk, Kim Byung-wook, Kim Sung-won, Park Sung-min, Jeon Ju-hye, and Jung Jeom-sik, and the Justice Party appointed Lee Eun-joo as members.

The ruling and opposition parties agreed last month to grant legislative review authority to the Jeonggae Special Committee, with agenda items to be handled by mutual agreement between the parties, and the activity period is until May 29 of next year.

Assemblyman Kim Seung-nam stated, “Through the activities of the special committee, I will do my best to improve the system so that public opinion can be properly reflected in next year’s local elections and to innovate the Public Official Election Act and Political Party Act, which are inconsistent with reality.”
