Naju-si Receives 'Excellence Award' in Lifelong Education Operation Evaluation

[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 3rd that it won the Excellence Award in the ‘2021 Lifelong Education Operation Excellent City/County Evaluation’ hosted by Jeollanam-do, securing a prize money of 10 million won.

This evaluation was conducted for the first time this year to measure annual project performance by indicators and to encourage excellent cities/counties that have worked to revitalize lifelong learning and expand and guarantee lifelong learning rights for residents.

The evaluation was conducted through document screening of lifelong education operation status and video evaluation of lifelong learning club activities, comprehensively assessing the performance of each city/county’s work promotion.

The lifelong education operation status evaluated four items: lifelong education budget, organizational operation capability, project participation rate, and program trainees and performance management; the activity videos were evaluated on five items including artistry and originality.

The city was recognized for its operation achievements of various programs for different social groups, including ‘Naju Pear Patissier School,’ a lifelong education program to increase demand for the representative specialty product Naju pears and farmers’ income, and ‘Now! Into the World!’ to promote social participation of persons with disabilities.

In particular, the ‘Wise Bangkok Life Coaching Mom School,’ which won the special award at the 18th Korea Lifelong Learning Awards last month and is a program for developing the capabilities of highly educated parents with career interruptions, also received favorable reviews.

Additionally, the video submitted by the local pan flute club ‘PanStory’ was recognized for excellence in terms of harmony among members and performance completeness, and is expected to receive a separate incentive.

Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “Following the special award at this year’s Lifelong Learning Awards, the achievement of winning the excellence award in the province was possible because of the citizens’ interest and affection for lifelong learning in the city,” adding, “We will strive to build educational infrastructure so that people of all ages and classes can enjoy lifelong learning anytime and anywhere, befitting a lifelong learning city of Korea.”
