Metaverse Venture ThreeEye Signs MOU on Urban Regeneration with KAIST Researchers

Implementing Real Cities Virtually to Establish Various Urban Plans

Metaverse Venture ThreeEye Signs MOU on Urban Regeneration with KAIST Researchers

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] ThreeAI, a venture company related to the metaverse (extended virtual world) including artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR), is collaborating with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) to digitally simulate urban regeneration areas.

ThreeAI announced on the 3rd that it signed a business agreement on the 30th of last month with the research team of Professor Hong Jung-wook from KAIST's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering regarding this collaboration.

Accordingly, they will jointly explore methods to apply digital twin (digitally replicating real spaces) solutions for disaster management and response. Specifically, Professor Hong’s research team will evaluate disaster risks in urban regeneration areas through digital twins and support ensuring resident safety and establishing disaster response plans. In this process, ThreeAI’s 'Beamo' will be used to build 3D spatial information of urban regeneration areas as digital twins, and AI will be utilized to detect disaster risk factors that can cause fire or explosion, such as outdoor units, city gas pipelines, and LPG gas tanks.

Professor Hong said, "With the help of ThreeAI’s ‘Beamo,’ we were able to build the digital twin of the demonstration site quickly and economically. Beamo can be used to detect risk factors within the demonstration site and can be applied to study various aspects of urban disasters."

Kim Ken, CEO of ThreeAI, stated, "Through this MOU, we expect to pioneer AI application fields in digital twin and urban development using ‘Beamo.’ We will support creating our own street views via an On Demand method and connecting them to applications to enable users to enjoy the benefits of digital twins."
