Gyeongnam Hapcheon-gun Selected as 'Best Institution' in Nakdong River Basin Management Fund Performance Evaluation

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 3rd that it was selected as the best institution in the field of environmental infrastructure installation in the ‘2020 Fiscal Year Nakdong River Basin Management Fund Performance Evaluation’ conducted by the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office.


Accordingly, the county will receive a 5% increase in the 2022 environmental infrastructure operation fund and institutional awards such as prize money.


The Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office annually awards outstanding local governments to enhance the transparency of fund management and the efficiency of project implementation for the Nakdong River Basin Management Fund projects.


This comprehensive performance evaluation assessed four areas: resident support by management office, environmental infrastructure installation, environmental infrastructure operation, and water source management area management projects. Hapcheon-gun scored 101.3 points in the environmental infrastructure installation (sewerage project) sector, far exceeding the average of 63.41 points among 31 local governments, earning a rating of ‘very excellent.’


County Governor Moon Jun-hee said, “I am very pleased to have achieved good results in the basin management fund evaluation,” and added, “Building on this achievement, we will do our best to improve the water quality of the Nakdong River and enhance the efficiency of fund-supported projects.”


Meanwhile, the Nakdong River Basin Management Fund is a fund established using water usage charges as resources to properly manage water resources and pollution sources in the Nakdong River Basin. Hapcheon-gun has received 1.1 billion KRW in 2020, 1.8 billion KRW in 2021, and 4.4 billion KRW in 2022 to promote environmental infrastructure installation projects.
