[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Police Agency announced on the 3rd that it has produced a video to widely promote the ‘Police Forest Site (self-named),’ a lush forest created by planting trees since 1975 at Jeju Police, embodying the wish for zero crime in clean Jeju, which is pursuing carbon zero.
The Police Forest Site is part of a nationwide greening project, where the Jeju Police Agency signed a lease contract with Jeju City (then Bukjeju County) and planted 160,000 trees over about 40 years on a 495,867㎡ (approximately 150,000 pyeong) site at 70-2, Gyorae-ri, Jocheon-eup. All employees have participated annually in tree-planting events.
It is widely known among visitors as a cedar tree colony within the Samdasu Forest Trail.
The video features visitors walking through the green cedar forest of the Police Forest Site, showing the passage of time along the walking trail and the changes alongside the history of Jeju Police.
It also captures the mission and commitment of Jeju Police to quietly move forward like the cedar forest that has become a forest over time, blending police and local residents in the video.
Actor Lee Hana, who played the lead role in the series drama ‘Voice,’ contributed her narration talent-free, enhancing the completeness of the video.
Actor Lee Hana was appointed as an honorary police sergeant by the National Police Agency on the last Police Day and has a special connection with Jeju, the filming location of Voice Season 4.
The Jeju Police Agency released the 5-minute video, produced directly by its staff, on internal bulletin boards and the National Police Agency’s SNS such as ‘Fall in Love with Police.’
The video has received great responses from police officers nationwide and the public, with comments like, “I didn’t know the Samdasu Forest Trail was a forest created by Jeju Police until I saw the video,” and “I definitely want to visit the forest made by the police.”
