DELab Team Wins Grand Prize with Metaverse Theme
Final 6 Teams Selected, Total Prize Money and Certificates Worth 8 Million KRW Awarded
The award ceremony for the '2021 Financial Big Data Platform Utilization Idea Contest' hosted by BC Card was held on the afternoon of the 2nd at the BC Card headquarters in Euljiro, Seoul. [Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] BC Card announced on the 3rd that it held the awards ceremony for the '2021 Financial Big Data Platform Utilization Idea Contest' for the general public at the BC Card headquarters in Euljiro, Seoul.
Now in its third year, this contest was hosted by BC Card, organized by the Big Data Convergence Research Group of Korea University's Convergence Research Institute, and sponsored by the National Information Society Agency. It was held until the end of last month. Participants were required to submit results such as 'MZ Generation (Millennial + Generation Z) Customized Financial Service Ideas' based on BC Card's financial big data platform, including payment, floating population, popular restaurants, real estate, and other financial and non-financial data.
BC Card selected a total of six final teams (1 Grand Prize, 1 Excellence Award, 2 Merit Awards, and 2 Special Awards) through document screening (first round) and presentation evaluation (second round), based on criteria such as idea excellence, business feasibility, and social impact. The winning teams were awarded a total prize money of 8 million KRW and certificates.
The Grand Prize-winning DELab team received the highest score with the theme "Implementing My Meme (MEME, trends repeatedly imitated mainly online) in the Metaverse," proposing a circular system connecting the metaverse and real-world consumption. Other winners included the Excellence Award for "Customer Review-Based Restaurant Recommendation Service (Smart Change)," Merit Awards for "MZ Generation Commercial District Analysis and Activation Index for Self-Employed" and "Donzzul Service for Restaurants Providing Good Influence (Kim Sun-cheol Team)" which were selected as Merit and Special Awards respectively.
Byun Hyung-gyun, Executive Director and Head of AI Big Data Division at BC Card, said, "We will continue to discover creative ideas based on big data and commercialize them to develop data-driven financial innovation services."
