Increased from 3,217 Participants to Over 7,011 This Year, More Than Double
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Geun-gi) announced that the Gokseong-gun Volunteer Center received the Grand Prize in the 2021 Jeollanam-do Volunteer Center Evaluation at the Volunteer Conference held at the Jeollanam-do Provincial Office on December 1 (Wednesday).
This evaluation was conducted as a comparative assessment among 22 cities and counties in Jeonnam, based on volunteer registration performance and the implementation of region-specific programs.
Despite the difficult conditions due to COVID-19, the Gokseong-gun Volunteer Center achieved a remarkable result by more than doubling the number of registered volunteers from 3,217 last year to 7,011 this year.
Additionally, the center developed and operated customized volunteer specialization projects through collaboration with local affiliated organizations, and faithfully performed the role of a control tower for grassroots volunteer activities with local residents by running programs such as a sock yarn making volunteer program for youth volunteers, earning this honor.
A county official said, “We deeply appreciate the efforts of those who practiced neighborly love and sharing despite the difficulties in volunteer activities caused by COVID-19.” He added, “Going forward, we plan to develop and operate various programs to further activate volunteering, and aim to register 10 companies in the excellent volunteer mileage system next year.”
