[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Hyundai Glovis announced on the 3rd that it has won both the Green Management Award and the Safety Management Award for three consecutive years at the ‘2021 Global Standard Management Awards.’

Now in its 20th year, the Global Standard Management Awards are hosted by the Korea Management Registrar (KMR) and supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The awards objectively evaluate companies’ global competitiveness in management strategy, future value, products, and services, and present awards in a total of nine categories.

Among these, the Green Management Award is given to companies that establish and implement eco-friendly management strategies as a driving force for sustainable growth, while the Safety Management Award is given to companies that lead the industrial society by introducing and practicing safety-focused management.

Hyundai Glovis received the Green Management Award for the fourth consecutive year in recognition of its continuous discovery of greenhouse gas reduction projects and achievements in implementing various eco-friendly new businesses. In October, it became the first domestic logistics company to join the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) as a supporter and declared its support, expressing a concrete commitment to eco-friendly management such as greenhouse gas reduction.

TCFD is an international consortium established in 2015 under the Financial Stability Board of the Bank for International Settlements at the request of the G20 (Group of Twenty). It recommends that companies transparently disclose expected financial impacts related to climate change through disclosures, which serves as a key indicator in evaluating companies’ ESG management.

Hyundai Glovis is actively implementing modal shift by converting freight truck road transport to coastal maritime transport, reducing approximately 70,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually while also preventing road damage and noise. It launched the eco-friendly new business brand ‘ECOH.’ Collaborating with global industrial gas company Air Products and the world’s largest raw material trader Trafigura, Hyundai Glovis is promoting eco-friendly fuel businesses.

A Hyundai Glovis official stated, “We will continue to practice environmentally conscious management across all domestic and international business areas and foster a corporate culture that prioritizes safety.”
