[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] KCC won the Gold Award in the Digital Video category at the 2021 Korea Advertising Awards with the advertisement "Seong Dong-il (KCC Changho) trapped in the Infinite Advertising Universe."
Now in its 28th year, the Korea Advertising Awards is the only comprehensive advertising award in Korea that covers all advertising media including TV, digital, print, and outdoor, and is the most prestigious award in the Korean advertising industry.
The Digital Video category targets video advertisements produced for online viral purposes excluding TV, with a particular focus on creativity. The "KCC Changho" advertisement, released last December on KCC's official YouTube channel, features a unique frame-within-frame structure where multiple parody ads are continuously connected, combined with actor Seong Dong-il's uniquely warm and comedic performance, leaving a strong impression on the public in a short period, surpassing fierce competitors.
KCC's winning work attracted public attention with a cumulative view count of 8.51 million and received widespread love. This advertisement also won the Good Advertisement Award in the Digital category at the "2021 Good Advertisement Award Selected by the People," earned two Silver Awards in the Short-term Effectiveness and Branded Content categories at the "2021 Effie Awards Korea," and received a Bronze Award at the "2021 Busan International Advertising Festival," garnering praise not only from general netizens but also from advertising professionals.
A KCC representative said, "We achieved good results this year at the Good Advertisement Award Selected by the People, Effie Awards Korea, and Busan International Advertising Festival, and it is an honor to win the Gold Award at the Korea Advertising Awards this time," adding, "We will continue cheerful communication with consumers through fresh content that can appeal to both the older generation and the MZ generation."
