"Strengthening Media Platform Capabilities" KT Joins Altimedia Group Companies

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 3rd that it has completed the acquisition process of Altimedia, a developer of software solutions for digital broadcasting, and has fully incorporated it into the KT Group.

Altimedia provides digital broadcasting middleware and security solutions to IPTV and cable TV operators both domestically and internationally. It has grown alongside KT since the early days of KT's IPTV business. In addition to Korea, Altimedia has bases in Vietnam and the Netherlands and actively conducts business with leading telecommunications operators such as Viettel, the largest telecom company in Vietnam, and Turk Telekom in Turkey.

By incorporating Altimedia as a media affiliate within the group, KT expects to internalize Altimedia's core media capabilities and technologies, thereby strengthening the group's media platform capabilities. Furthermore, KT plans to leverage Altimedia's global bases and references to promote the global expansion of KT's media business.

Park Dosa, CEO of Altimedia, said, "We hope that Altimedia's joining the KT Group will play a role like the final puzzle piece in the media and content business, which is a core pillar of KT's DigiCo roadmap. We will continue to support stable technology and service advancement for Altimedia's existing clients while striving to create synergy in KT's future growth businesses."
