'Accusation Instigation' Son Joon-sung Appears for Second Warrant Hearing: "I Will Explain in Detail in Court"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Son Joon-sung, the Daegu High Prosecutors' Office Human Rights Protection Officer and a key suspect in the 'accusation manipulation' scandal, appeared on the 2nd for his second pre-trial detention hearing (warrant review).

Prosecutor Son arrived at the Seoul Central District Court, where the hearing was held, at around 10:02 a.m. that day.

When asked by reporters, "How do you feel about the warrant being re-requested after a month?" Prosecutor Son replied, "I will explain in detail to the judge. I will speak in court," and headed into the courthouse.

He is accused of instructing a prosecutor working in the Policy Office of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in April last year, while serving as the Investigation Information Policy Officer, to draft complaints and collect supporting materials regarding passport personnel and journalists, and delivering the complaints to Kim Woong, then a candidate for the United Future Party in the general election (currently a member of the People Power Party), on charges including abuse of authority and obstruction of the exercise of rights.
