According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 2nd, 39 people tested positive for COVID-19 the previous day in Gwangju, classified as cases 6315 through 6353.
These include 16 related to a leisure gathering in Dong-gu, 7 related to confirmed cases from other cities and provinces, 7 related to previously confirmed cases, 2 related to a medical institution located in Seo-gu, 1 related to a bathhouse (A) in Buk-gu, and 6 under investigation due to symptoms.
The 16 confirmed cases related to the leisure gathering introduced in Dong-gu are members of the Dong-gu choir operated by Dong-gu.
It was identified that they practiced choir together on the 25th of last month with a medical hospital worker previously confirmed positive in Seo-gu. Additionally, it is presumed that one of the confirmed cases from Jeonnam participated as an accompanist in the choir and was infected.
The quarantine authorities conducted comprehensive testing on all 33 choir members, confirming that 19 of them (including the Jeonnam confirmed case) were infected.
Two more cases were added at the medical institution located in Seo-gu, bringing the cumulative total to 13.
Also, one middle school student in Seo-gu was confirmed infected through symptomatic testing, and comprehensive testing is being conducted at the school to accurately identify the infection route.
Regarding the bathhouse in Buk-gu, after a confirmed case was reported on the 17th of last month, one more case was added on this day, bringing the cumulative total to 18.
Other confirmed cases are classified as those who overlapped movement paths with confirmed cases from other cities and provinces or were infected through contact with family members, acquaintances, or other previously confirmed cases.
