[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in expressed concern over the increased risk of the new COVID-19 variant 'Omicron' and stated, "We will do our utmost to restore daily life as soon as possible."

On the morning of the 2nd, at the '53rd National Breakfast Prayer Meeting of the Republic of Korea' held in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, President Moon said, "The path to phased daily recovery is not smooth."

President Moon emphasized, "The risk of the new variant Omicron has increased," and added, "The government will do its best to alleviate the worries and anxieties of the people and to leap into a changed daily life."

He also prayed for the improvement of inter-Korean relations. President Moon stated, "North and South are one life community; living together is healthy, and cooperating leads to prosperity. Above all, it is the way for the Republic of Korea to become stronger," adding, "The realization of a prosperous Korean Peninsula through denuclearization is another form of justice (Christian justice) and restoration."

He also expressed gratitude for the Christian community's participation in Carbon Neutrality 2050. President Moon said, "Churches have discussed measures to respond to the climate crisis, and the congregation has participated by changing their own lives," adding, "Responding to the climate crisis and practicing carbon neutrality is the most active way to love this world, which we believe God created."

He went on to mention that since the past, Christians have established hospitals such as Jejungwon to treat patients and the vulnerable, saying, "I pay my respects to all leaders and congregation members who consider the pain of neighbors and nature as their own pain and reach out and pray together to overcome it."
