Cargo Ship Carrying 18 Vietnamese Passengers Sends Distress Signal and Goes Missing in the East Sea


At around 4:30 PM on the 1st, Kyodo News reported that a Panama-registered 5,672-ton cargo ship sent a distress signal and then lost contact in the East Sea, approximately 380 km northwest of Okinoshima, Shimane Prefecture, Japan.


It is known that 18 Vietnamese nationals were on board the cargo ship. Kyodo News also reported that vessels from the Japan Coast Guard and the Korea Coast Guard are currently dispatched to the scene.
