[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 1st, "Among the confirmed COVID-19 cases, the number of suspected Omicron variant patients was initially reported as four, but three more have been added, making a total of seven currently under examination."

At an emergency meeting on COVID-19 measures held at the National Assembly that day, Song said, "The results regarding whether it is Omicron are expected to be announced at 9 PM."

He continued, "These individuals had traveled to Nigeria and were breakthrough cases despite having received two doses of the Moderna vaccine," adding, "They have not yet received a booster shot, but since they completed the second dose, it is important to prepare countermeasures going forward."
