[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jo Gyu-il, mayor of Jinju City, conducted an on-site inspection of Jinju Fortress and the Namgang River area, the main venues for the festivals held in December, including the '2021 Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival' and the '2021 Korea Drama Festival.'
The on-site inspection focused on the COVID-19 response quarantine system, temporary facilities installed during the festival period, event space layout, visitor flow, traffic measures, and environmental maintenance, aiming to check the convenience and safety facilities for tourists across all areas.
Mayor Jo encouraged the on-site workers and instructed immediate corrective actions for any shortcomings, while urging, "Although there are many difficulties in holding the festival due to COVID-19, please prioritize quarantine management above all else along with compliance with government quarantine guidelines so that it can be a safe and enjoyable festival."
About 30 officials from the festival organizing committee and related departments pledged to thoroughly address the issues pointed out during this inspection before the festival opening to ensure a safety-first festival.
This year’s Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival will be held from the 4th to the 31st, and the Korea Drama Festival from the 4th to the 12th at Jinju Fortress and the Namgang River area. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, elements that cause crowding such as fireworks, food booths, and experience programs will be removed, and the festival will be operated as an exhibition-type event.
