Government to Hold Online Demand Forecast Briefing for Next Year on the 2nd
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] The demand for software (SW) and ICT equipment in the public sector in 2022 is expected to reach 5.3813 trillion KRW, an increase of 8.9% compared to 2021.
On the 1st, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it will hold the '2022 Public Sector Software (SW)·Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Equipment·Information Security Demand Forecast Online Briefing' on the 2nd.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT, the total planned project amount for SW and ICT equipment in the public sector next year is 5.3813 trillion KRW, which is 438.4 billion KRW (8.9%) higher than the planned amount for 2021.
Among this, SW construction is 3.9917 trillion KRW, an increase of 9.2%, and commercial SW purchases amount to 324 billion KRW, a 3.4% increase. ICT equipment such as computing, networks, and broadcasting is 1.0656 trillion KRW, up 9.4%.
The project amount including information security and physical security-related content is 1.0394 trillion KRW, a 25.2% increase compared to the previous year, and the investment and purchase budget related to information security within the project was 606.4 billion KRW.

Kim Jeong-sam, Software Policy Officer at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, "We will strive to innovate the public project ecosystem by, among other things, mandating the reflection of software project impact assessment results for the software industry."
Meanwhile, according to Article 41 of the Software Promotion Act (Demand Forecast for SW Projects), Article 29 of the Special Act on Promotion and Convergence Activation of Information and Communications (ICT Equipment Demand Forecast), and Article 6 of the Act on Promotion of the Information Security Industry (Provision of Purchase Demand Information), the government conducts and announces surveys twice a year on the purchase demand for SW, ICT equipment, and information security in the public sector, as well as the promotion plans for SW, ICT equipment, and information security projects. The planned figures for the following year are announced in November, and the confirmed figures for the current year are announced in March.
