[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Min-seok, Chairman of the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee (Yeongdeungpo-gu Eul, Seoul · right), and Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, jointly announced the ‘New Singil New Daerim Vision’ to transform Yeongdeungpo-gu into a city where nature, people, and culture harmonize at 11 a.m. on the 1st at the National Assembly Press Hall.
Representative Kim Min-seok evaluated, “Today’s announcement will be an opportunity to elevate the quality of life for residents of the Singil and Daerim areas, which have dynamically transformed through redevelopment and reconstruction.”
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “Coexistence with nature is a measure of a city’s level,” and added, “We will do our best to enhance a pleasant residential environment and quality of life that all citizens should enjoy.”
Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) held the ‘2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Ontact Fundraising Live Broadcast’ at 3 p.m. on the 1st at Studio 3 of the Mapo Art Center.
The fundraising live broadcast, held to encourage participation in the ‘2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Fundraising Campaign’ running from November 15 to February 14 next year, featured comedian Oh Ma-ju, Mapo-gu’s public relations ambassador, encouraging sharing, followed by performances by singer Jo Kwan-woo, opera singer Jang Cheol-jun, and the Mapo-gu Boys and Girls Choir.
On this day, Hyosung, headquartered in Gongdeok-dong, Mapo-gu, donated 40 million won. In addition, the funds and goods raised through the ‘2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ campaign will be used for emergency living expenses, medical expenses, housing costs, and education expenses for the underprivileged in the region.
Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “Every year, all Mapo-gu office staff participate in the warm winter fundraising, and this year, we have gathered to deliver 9,895,000 won in donations,” and added, “If anyone is experiencing an unusually long winter, please contact your local community center or district office anytime,” extending a helping hand to neighbors in need.
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) held the ‘2021 4th Gangseo-gu Governance Council Regular Meeting’ at the district office’s large conference room on the morning of the 1st.
About 20 people, including Mayor Noh Hyun-song and members of the Gangseo-gu Governance Council, attended the meeting, which proceeded with the agenda of ▲Appointment of new members for the 3rd Gangseo-gu Governance Council ▲Report on the 2022 Regional Community Innovation Plan implementation project adjustment ▲Discussion of other matters.
Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, “I expect the members, composed of experts in various fields, to contribute to a more mature activation of public-private governance,” and added, “We will continue to make governance the core value of district administration and create various forums for public discussion to strive for regional development.”
The district previously received the highest grade in the ‘2021 Regional Community Innovation Plan Performance Evaluation’ and ‘Citizen Participation Budget System Evaluation’ hosted by Seoul City, securing the largest budget of 1.1 billion won for the Regional Community Innovation Plan projects.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the completion ceremony of the Nadeuri Azalea Hill in Sanggye-dong at 11 a.m. on the 1st.
The Nadeuri Azalea Hill covers an area of 20,000㎡ and is located at 72-1 Sanggye-dong.
The completion ceremony was held to commemorate the maintenance of the existing azalea hill’s walking trails, the installation of an observatory and deck rest area, and the planting of about 30,000 azalea plants including Baekcheol azalea and Jasanhong azalea.
The event was attended by Mayor Oh Seung-rok and residents of Sanggye 3 and 4-dong, proceeding with a progress report, presentation of plaques of appreciation, congratulatory speeches, ribbon-cutting, commemorative photos, and a walking trail tour.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon-gu said, “Following the Bulamsan Azalea Hill, the Nadeuri Azalea Hill in Sanggye-dong seems to be becoming a new landmark of Nowon,” and added, “We will continue to strive to expand spaces where residents can heal close to home.”
On the morning of the 1st, medical staff at the Seoul City Mobile Screening Clinic installed in Omok Park, Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young), are diligently conducting COVID-19 testing to strengthen quarantine measures despite the cold wave.
From December 1 to December 18, the Seoul City Mobile Screening Clinic will operate at Omok Park (around 159-2 Mokdongseo-ro) in Yangcheon-gu. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed on Sundays and public holidays. Anyone wishing to undergo proactive COVID-19 testing can visit and get tested.
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) installed a Christmas tree at Jungnang-gu Citizen Square and held a lighting ceremony on the afternoon of November 30.
The tree, installed to deliver joy for the upcoming Christmas and to promise a hopeful new year, will welcome citizens passing by the district office until December 31.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “I hope the Christmas tree will be a small comfort to citizens tired from COVID-19 and that everyone can share the joy of Christmas while looking at the tree.”
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Sung-hoon) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for ‘Educational Cooperation for Customized Career Support in Geumcheon-gu’ with Seoul National University Lifelong Education Institute on November 30.
The signing ceremony held at the Geumcheon-gu Office small conference room was attended by Yoo Sung-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, Han Soong-hee, Director of Seoul National University Lifelong Education Institute, and six officials from both organizations.
Geumcheon-gu plans to strengthen the university-linked education foundation through this MOU. Currently, career classes linked with Seoul National University are being conducted at four middle schools in the region, and in 2022, career classes will be supported for about 1,300 students in all middle schools in Geumcheon-gu.
The career education in cooperation with Seoul National University Lifelong Education Institute in 2022 will be conducted by professional instructors with master’s and doctoral degrees from Seoul National University visiting schools directly to provide theoretical lectures and experiential programs. The curriculum is designed with diverse content to help youth nurture bigger dreams through the classes.
Yoo Sung-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “Career education is very important as youth are the leaders of the future era,” and added, “We will promote various customized education programs to help youth explore their career paths.”
