Korea Airports Corporation held a meeting with the CEOs of domestic low-cost airlines on the 30th of last month at its headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Korea Airports Corporation announced on the 1st that it held a meeting with the CEOs of seven domestic national low-cost carriers (LCCs) on the 30th of last month.
This meeting is held quarterly every year to help the rapid recovery of the aviation market in line with the government's transition to With-Corona and the daily recovery trend. The participating airlines are Jeju Air, Jin Air, T'way Air, Air Busan, Air Seoul, Fly Gangwon, and Aero K.
At this meeting, the corporation shared plans to support LCC flight recovery, including the implementation of international flight 'Re-start' incentives, promotion and support for route resumption, strengthening the quarantine system at regional airports, and continuous promotion of aviation-tourism linkage projects.
They also agreed that the corporation and the seven LCCs will strategically cooperate for the prompt normalization of international flights at regional airports.
International flights are scheduled to resume sequentially, starting with the Gimhae Airport-Guam route which resumed operations on the 27th of last month, followed by Daegu Airport this month, and Cheongju, Yangyang, Gimpo, and Muan Airports next year.
Son Chang-wan, President of Korea Airports Corporation, said, “Through close collaboration with national LCCs, we will gradually resume international flights at regional airports and strive to help the aviation industry take off again. In particular, we will do our best to provide thorough quarantine management and non-face-to-face, contactless services so that airport users can use the airport with peace of mind.”
