[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The endangered species, the Whooper Swan, has been spotted at the National Sejong Arboretum. The Whooper Swan is classified as a Class II endangered wild bird.
The Sejong Arboretum announced on the 1st that a flock of Whooper Swans was recently observed gathering at the amphibian observation area within the arboretum.
Commonly known as "Baekjo" (swan), this bird is a large white bird that typically appears in Korea around late November.
During this period, various winter migratory birds, including the Hooded Crane, are consistently observed at the Sejong Arboretum engaging in feeding activities.
Go Seung-hoon, chief of Sejong Arboretum, said, "It appears that the flock of Whooper Swans spotted earlier this year at the Sejong Arboretum has returned at the end of the year. We will continue to pay special attention and care to ensure that the Sejong Arboretum becomes a renowned spot for winter migratory birds such as the Whooper Swan."
