Kim Sun-ho, Gurye County Governor, Begins Steps Toward an Eco-Friendly City Gurye

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] Gurye-gun is taking active steps toward becoming an eco-friendly city.

On the 30th, County Governor Kim Soon-ho held a policy discussion meeting with department heads and instructed proactive county administration activities for an eco-friendly city, including a carbon-zero city.

At the discussion, Governor Kim emphasized active county administration to become an eco-friendly city, followed by promoting empathy dialogues with residents through town and township tours, encouraging residents to have a Gurye愛 address where they live, operating and promoting the National Ssireum (Korean wrestling) Competition, checking and promoting COVID-19 quarantine rules for phased daily recovery, thoroughly completing unfinished projects, and overseeing county administration issues to promote Gurye-gun's development.

In 2017, Gurye-gun held a proclamation ceremony for an eco-friendly agricultural city, aiming to foster the entire cultivated area as an eco-friendly agricultural zone for the clean image of Jirisan Mountain and the Seomjin River and future agriculture.

Gurye-gun is further preparing to become a carbon-zero city, designing soil revitalization policies, and continuously working to make Gurye one of the leading eco-friendly cities nationwide.

Methods to implement carbon zero include creating forests to supply oxygen and investing in renewable energy sectors, among various approaches.

Gurye-gun plans to take steps toward a carbon-zero city to reduce carbon emissions, which are considered a major cause of climate change.

Additionally, it announced plans to design soil revitalization policies to allow healthy microorganisms to live in the soil, establishing itself as an eco-friendly city producing safe food for the future.

Governor Kim Soon-ho emphasized, “Thoroughly prepare in advance for the carbon-zero city,” and instructed, “Design policies for soil revitalization to become an eco-friendly city.”

Meanwhile, as an eco-friendly city, Gurye-gun has strengthened agricultural competitiveness through differentiation strategies in response to FTAs and overproduction of agricultural products, gaining significant advantages such as increased agricultural income by securing a leading position in the eco-friendly agricultural products market with high growth potential.
