[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] On the 30th, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it received the Grand Prize in the Jeollanam-do Economic Revitalization category at the 13th Gwangju-Jeonnam Local Autonomy Management Awards ceremony held at the Bentley Hotel in Gwangju.

The Local Autonomy Management Award is given to local governments that have achieved outstanding results in regional development, such as administrative innovation, driving the local economy, and improving residents' welfare. Muan-gun applied in the economic revitalization category and was honored to receive the grand prize.

With this, Muan-gun has gained the honor of receiving an award in the Jeollanam-do Economic Revitalization category following its recent receipt of the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award in the job creation category at the 17th Korea Local Autonomy Management Competition.

This grand prize is interpreted as a high recognition of Muan-gun's efforts to foster aviation-related industries centered on aircraft maintenance (MRO), including aircraft parts, logistics, and in-flight meal companies, to revitalize the local economy and create quality jobs.

Currently, Muan-gun is developing an aviation-specialized industrial complex on a 350,000㎡ site near Muan International Airport, aiming for completion next year. The county is promoting the project with the goal of utilizing the infrastructure of Muan International Airport to link the aviation industry with logistics and tourism industries, and to develop the aviation-specialized industrial complex into a national aviation industrial complex, thereby creating an advanced aviation industry cluster.

County Governor Kim San said, “Once the aviation-specialized industrial complex is completed, talented personnel will settle near the airport instead of moving overseas, revitalizing the local economy and establishing a virtuous cycle of youth employment through industry-academia-government cooperation. We will accelerate the development of the industrial complex based on this grand prize and nurture the aviation industry as a strategic industry and new growth engine for Muan.”
