[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gyeongsangnam-do held a commemorative event for the 2021 Women Violence Eradication Week on the 30th at the provincial government auditorium.
The event included an award ceremony recognizing those who have dedicated themselves to preventing violence against women and protecting and supporting victims, as well as a special lecture titled "Gender Violence Seen Through Gender Sensitivity" by Choi Ki-ja, Deputy Director of the Gender Education Research Institute (IGE).
At the venue, an illegal camera experience room and a VR experience zone were set up to raise awareness and improve understanding of illegal filming crimes through a campaign.
Additionally, winning entries from the card news contest on preventing violence against women, held for local youth from September to November, were exhibited to reflect on the significance of Women Violence Eradication Week.
Lee Sang-hoon, Director of the Women's, Family, and Children’s Bureau of the province, stated, "Various forms of violence such as digital sex crimes and stalking threaten daily life," adding, "We ask for the continuous interest and participation of residents to achieve a violence-free daily life."
Meanwhile, Gyeongnam Province has newly opened specialized counseling centers for digital sex crime victims and integrated support centers for children and adolescents to support victims in response to various types of violence against women.
Efforts to prevent violence against women also include expanding support projects such as the Safe Home Set for single-woman households and the installation of safety screens in public restrooms.
