[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) summoned the Rule of Law Restoration Action Alliance (Beopse-ryeon), which filed a complaint against CIO Chief Kim Jin-wook on the grounds of biased investigation, for questioning on the 30th.

After reviewing the complainant's statements on the day, the CIO is expected to decide whether to transfer the case to the prosecution.

Earlier, on the 22nd, Beopse-ryeon accused the CIO of conducting a rigorous investigation into the allegations of complaint solicitation while practically not investigating the allegations of complaint solicitation involving Park Ji-won, the Director of the National Intelligence Service, and filed a complaint against Chief Kim for dereliction of duty and violations of the State Public Officials Act and the Public Official Election Act.

The group also claimed that Chief Kim was abusing investigative authority with blatant biased investigations to effectively cause the defeat of Yoon Seok-youl, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party.

Beopse-ryeon urged, "If this case is glossed over with a formal investigation, the public will expel the CIO," and demanded, "Immediately arrest and investigate Chief Kim, who is ruining the CIO."
