Operation Restrictions on Emergency Fine Dust Reduction Measures Implementation Day... 100,000 KRW Fine for Violations
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, will restrict the operation of Grade 5 emission vehicles when a high-concentration fine dust emergency reduction measure is issued starting from the 1st of next month, aiming to improve air quality.
According to the county on the 30th, when the high-concentration fine dust emergency reduction measure is issued, enforcement will be carried out using four cameras (CCTV) installed at four major road entry and exit points in Muan-gun from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Violating vehicles will be fined 100,000 KRW (once per day), and you can check whether your vehicle is Grade 5 by accessing the vehicle emission grade system website.
However, emergency vehicles, vehicles for the disabled, national merit vehicles, vehicles that cannot be equipped with emission reduction devices, commercial vehicles, and vehicles that have completed low-emission measures are exempt from enforcement, and enforcement will not be conducted on weekends and public holidays.
Muan-gun plans to minimize confusion among residents due to the first enforcement by issuing guidance up to the third violation and imposing fines from the fourth violation onward.
A county official said, “When the fine dust emergency reduction measure is issued, please refrain from driving Grade 5 vehicles and use public transportation. We will continue to expand the support project for old diesel vehicles and strive to create a clean air environment.”
