[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Sewon ENC, which recently announced its entry into the global multiplatform game development business utilizing the fantasy novel intellectual property (IP) 'Dragon Raja,' is maximizing sales and operating profits through continuous business diversification.
According to the financial investment industry on the 30th, Sewon ENC's Game Business Division's first game, the fantasy RPG 'Changgong Arena,' is undergoing localization work ahead of its domestic market launch. A closed beta test (CBT) is scheduled to begin in mid-December, with plans to collect various user feedback and suggestions to further enhance the game's completeness.
On the 15th, Sewon ENC signed a joint game development business contract with Aprogen Visionary utilizing the 'Dragon Raja' IP. Serialized on PC communication networks in 1997, 'Dragon Raja' sparked a fantasy novel craze and has proven its popularity as an IP developed into games across various platforms such as PC and mobile. Titles like Dragon Raja Online, Dragon Raja M, and Dragon Raja 2 have been developed and serviced, and this year, the mobile games 'Dragon Raja Origin' and 'Dragon Raja EX' were officially released.
A Sewon ENC official stated, "'Dragon Raja' is a representative novel by fantasy author Lee Young-do and a game IP whose popularity has been verified among gamers. We plan to closely collaborate with Aprogen Visionary to develop a high-quality global multiplatform game."
They added, "Starting with the official launch of 'Changgong Arena,' we have a strategy to continuously secure the game lineup of the game division. Currently, we are negotiating the details of the PC MMORPG licensing contract scheduled for release next year, and internally, we are also progressing an 'NFT project' related to the development of a global metaverse game serviced based on a non-fungible token (NFT) payment system."
Separately, Sewon ENC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Russian rocket specialist company Success Rockets and is actively promoting a new satellite rocket business.
Through this MOU, Sewon ENC plans to establish a joint venture (JV) with Success Rockets and expand the Korean-style ultra-light satellite rocket business jointly with its subsidiary Space Sewon.
Success Rockets is a Russian company possessing its own rocket manufacturing technology and has developed the commercial solid-fuel rocket 'STALKER.' It is the only private space launch vehicle manufacturer in Russia to have successfully launched two pilot rockets and is preparing for the final launch test.
Sewon ENC is a company with technological capabilities in manufacturing and operating pneumatic and hydraulic equipment for space launch vehicles. In the Korean launch vehicle Nuriho development project launched last month, it successfully designed, manufactured, and operated pneumatic and hydraulic equipment such as erectors (facilities that set the launch vehicle vertically), transfer devices, fixing devices, and access platform systems.
On the 10th, Sewon ENC established its subsidiary Space Sewon to promote the new satellite rocket business. Space Sewon plans to receive the design and manufacturing technology of Success Rockets' 'Stalker Rocket,' establish a rocket production base domestically, and create an environment capable of stable research and production.
Additionally, Space Sewon is pursuing collaboration with domestic companies possessing satellite and rocket launch vehicle manufacturing technologies to develop Korean-style ultra-light rockets.
A Sewon ENC official said, "Following the launch of Nuriho, the transition from state-led space development, Old Space, to private-led New Space has begun. We expect very high growth potential for the Korean-style ultra-light satellite rocket business currently underway. Sewon ENC, Success Rockets, and Space Sewon plan to closely collaborate to accelerate the new satellite rocket business."
Besides the two ongoing new businesses, Sewon ENC plans to proceed with comprehensive media content and New Space businesses through content diversification using the relevant IP related to the game business and NFT payments. Along with this, the company plans to maximize shareholder value and company valuation through a stock consolidation.
