Gokseong-gun Provides On-site Support for COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Shot Reservations

[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Jeonnam Gokseong-gun (Governor Yu Geun-gi) announced that it is directly visiting senior centers to support on-site pre-booking of COVID-19 vaccine booster shots for the elderly aged 60 and over in order to increase the additional vaccination rate.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency recently announced that the interval for pre-booking vaccinations for seniors aged 60 and over will be shortened from 6 months after completing the basic vaccination to 4 months after.

Gokseong-gun is conducting one-on-one home visits to promptly inform the elderly about these changes.

The one-on-one home visits target 11 areas with inconvenient transportation.

On the 29th, on-site support was provided in Eumnae 6-gu of Gokseong-eup, Oji 1-gu of Ogok-myeon, and Yeonbong area of Samgi-myeon, and on the 30th, the targets are Naeyeon of Godal-myeon, Hapgang of Okgwa-myeon, and Yakcheon of Ip-myeon.

On December 1, visits are planned for Hyeonjeong of Gyeom-myeon and Budeul of Osan-myeon, and on December 2, for Neungpa of Seokgok-myeon, Pyeongho of Moksadong-myeon, and Wondal of Jukgok-myeon.

According to the schedule, county health officials visit the village senior centers in the respective areas to provide pre-booking services. Although local government call centers and eup/myeon offices operate visit reservations, on-site support administration was decided considering that it is difficult for the elderly to visit in person.

In addition, Gokseong-gun is making efforts to promote additional COVID-19 vaccinations for herd immunity through village broadcasts and banners.

A Gokseong-gun official said, “There is concern about the re-spread due to the recent COVID-19 variant virus. Rapid additional vaccination for the elderly aged 60 and over, who have vulnerable immunity, is important not only for prevention but also to prevent worsening into severe illness if infected.”
