Pulmuone Foodmerce Launches 'Kimchi DIY Set' to Teach Kimchi-Making Culture at Daycare Centers and Kindergartens

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Pulmuone Foodmorse, a Pulmuone-affiliated food ingredient distribution specialist company, announced on the 30th that its infant and toddler customized professional brand ‘Pulskids’ has launched two types of 'Kimchi DIY Sets' for children.

With the recent kimjang season, interest in the Korean traditional culture of kimjang is increasing in infant and toddler facilities, and due to prolonged home-stay life, making kimchi is gaining popularity as an educational play program for children’s sensory development. In fact, Pulmuone Foodmorse’s sales data for Pulskids' 'Kimchi DIY Set' showed a tenfold increase this year compared to the same period last year during the kimjang season.

The newly released two types of 'Kimchi DIY Sets' are experiential products for infants and toddlers, launched targeting daycare centers and kindergartens so that children can directly experience the traditional culture of kimjang and eliminate unfamiliarity with kimchi. The sets consist of 10 trusted domestic ingredients such as napa cabbage, red pepper powder, and salt, and feature pre-packaged ingredients that allow simple mixing without the need to pickle the cabbage or make the seasoning paste, enabling children to easily and enjoyably experience kimjang.

Pulskids' 'Kimchi DIY Set' is offered as a 'Basic DIY Set' consisting of pickled napa cabbage (5kg) made from domestic cabbage and a mild seasoning paste (2kg) made with domestic mild red pepper powder and tomato to reduce spiciness, and this year, two new 'Kimchi Experience DIY Sets' have been launched by adding kimjang containers, educational materials, and other experiential components.

The new 'Kimchi Experience DIY Set' includes a ‘jar pot’ and a ‘bag’ to take home the kimchi they made themselves, and a 'finished product sticker label' where children can write their names to distinguish their special homemade kimchi. Additionally, it comes with an 'infant activity sheet' to learn more about kimchi and kimjang culture. The QR code included in the activity sheet provides access to a cooking class video titled 'Making Fresh Crispy Kimchi,' where Pulmuone Pulskitchen professional chefs offer educational guidance. Especially since the kit includes the container, it allows infant and toddler experiential guidance with just one kit without hassle, gaining great popularity in infant and toddler facilities after its release.

Kim Dongsun, head of Pulmuone Foodmorse Kids1 branch, said, "Thanks to the support from kindergarten and daycare teachers and parents who love the kimchi experience kit, we plan to regularly operate kids experiential kit products according to seasons such as solar terms and seasons."

Meanwhile, Pulmuone Foodmorse continues to achieve about 20% sales growth compared to the previous year. The transaction rate is 25% based on nationwide daycare centers, which increased by 2% compared to last year, showing an increasing trend every year. The newly launched two types of Pulskids 'Kimchi DIY Sets' will be operated nationwide through daycare centers and kindergartens targeting children aged 3 to 7.
