As of 6 PM, 1,811 confirmed cases nationwide across 17 cities and provinces... likely to exceed 3,000

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and other local governments, from 0:00 to 18:00 today, a total of 1,811 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide.

This figure includes confirmed cases from all 17 cities and provinces nationwide, including Busan, which had not previously reported interim counts.

Excluding Busan, the number is 1,734, which is 57 more than the same time the previous day (1,677) and 87 fewer than a week ago on the 22nd (1,821).

Typically, the number of tests decreases over weekends and holidays, leading to a decline in confirmed cases until early in the week, followed by a sharp increase around midweek. This pattern appears to be reflected here.

Since there is still time until midnight when the count is finalized, the number of new confirmed cases announced at 0:00 on the 30th is expected to increase further. The number of confirmed cases the previous day was 3,309.

Looking at the regions where cases were reported today, 1,241 cases were in the Seoul metropolitan area, and 570 cases were in non-metropolitan areas.

By each of the 17 cities and provinces: Seoul 731, Gyeonggi 334, Incheon 176, Busan 77, Chungnam 71, Daegu 70, Gyeongbuk 66, Gangwon 53, Gyeongnam 50, Gwangju 41, Chungbuk 40, Jeonnam 27, Jeonbuk 25, Jeju 22, Daejeon 17, Sejong 9, and Ulsan 2.

Confirmed cases were reported in all 17 cities and provinces. The fourth domestic wave, which began in early July, has continued for over four months.
