[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks Friends Volunteer Group (Leader Choi Chang-rok) invited multicultural families in Gwangyang City to the "Finding Happiness at Baegunsan" event, gifting them a joyful day.

The Friends Volunteer Group is a talent volunteer team composed of about 350 employees from Gwangyang Steelworks, supporting the settlement of multicultural families in the local community of Gwangyang City.

On the 28th, the members went on a late autumn picnic to Baegunsan with multicultural family couples and their children from the area. After about a 40-minute bus ride, they arrived at the Gwangyang Wood Culture Experience Center, their faces full of excitement.

The first program was a woodworking DIY experience. The whole family worked together to make wooden household items by hand, fostering family harmony through conversation and cooperation.

Next, they prepared games that anyone could easily and enjoyably participate in, such as the marble odd-or-even game from the globally popular "Squid Game," ttakji-chigi (folded paper tile game), rock-paper-scissors, and dalgona candy picking. Various prizes were also prepared for the winning families, which further lifted the atmosphere.

Breaking away from the daily life of COVID-19, the multicultural families of Gwangyang City who went on this outing had a joyful time, creating meaningful memories through healing both body and mind.

A marriage immigrant woman who participated in the "Finding Happiness at Baegunsan" event said, "I am grateful to the POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks Friends Volunteer Group for creating a happy day even on a holiday," and added, "I will cherish the time spent with my family today and build a brighter and happier home."

Joo Sun-jung, an employee of Gwangyang Steelworks who participated in the volunteer work, said, "I hope that our heartfelt thoughts for multicultural families will be conveyed to them so that everyone can spend a warm year-end."

Meanwhile, the POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks Friends Volunteer Group has been supporting various activities such as joint wedding ceremonies for multicultural couples, scholarship programs for children of multicultural families, and multicultural family harmony festivals, helping multicultural families in the area to take root as members of the local community.
