Seoul City to Open 'Cheongnyeon Hwalryeokso' at Citizen Hall on Next Month 1st... Free Use for Youth Aged 19-39

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] A one-stop support space for young job seekers, ‘Cheongnyeon Hwalryeokso’ (Youth Vitality Center), will open on the B1 floor of the Seoul City Hall Citizen’s Hall.

On the 30th, Seoul City announced that since the Citizen’s Hall at Seoul City Hall is located at the intersection of subway lines 1 and 2, it has excellent accessibility, and they hope many young people will use it. Anyone aged 19 to 39 can use it free of charge. It will operate by advance reservation starting from the 1st of next month.

Seoul City created ‘Cheongnyeon Hwalryeokso’ to support and encourage young job seekers who face difficulties securing spaces and bearing costs amid changes in the job market, such as the expansion of non-face-to-face video interviews and AI interviews after COVID-19.

‘Cheongnyeon Hwalryeokso’ carries the meaning of being a ‘vitalizer (活力素)’ for youth and a ‘place that gives vitality (活力所).’ It consists of three video interview booths and a self-introduction video production room.

The ‘video interview rooms’ are three independent soundproof booths that can be used simultaneously by three people. Each booth is equipped with all the necessary non-face-to-face interview equipment such as laptops, LED lighting, and microphones. It is expected that young people will be able to take video interviews in a stable environment with well-equipped equipment.

Additionally, AI-based interviews and competency tests, which are increasingly popular due to COVID-19, can also be experienced. By accessing the program on the laptops in each booth, AI asks interview questions and analyzes the youth’s answers, facial expressions, and voice tone in real time. The ‘self-introduction video room’ is a video studio equipped with the latest professional equipment for video shooting and editing, such as cameras, tripods, video editing PCs, LED lights (ceiling-mounted and portable), wireless microphones, and chroma key backgrounds. It can be used for producing self-introduction profile videos and personal portfolio videos.

Seoul City plans to station professional counseling staff at ‘Cheongnyeon Hwalryeokso.’ In addition to supporting the use of video equipment and space, they will provide professional employment and career counseling so that young job seekers can obtain various information and participate on-site, and offer employment consulting based on the results of AI interview and competency test experience programs.

Cheongnyeon Hwalryeokso operates on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and can be used through advance reservations on the Seoul City job portal. Each person can use it free of charge once a week for up to three hours.

Hwang Bo-yeon, Director of Economic Policy, said, “We have prepared a support space equipped with professional equipment inside Seoul City Hall to reduce the cost and time burden for young job seekers who are struggling to secure non-face-to-face interview spaces in the COVID-19 era. We expect it to be a practical help for young people who had no suitable place for non-face-to-face video interviews and those who had difficulty with methods or costs for submitting self-introduction videos.”
