Beolgyo-eup All Staff and Social Groups Conduct Campaign to Move Illegal Street Vendors to Traditional Market

[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] The Beolgyo-eup Administrative Welfare Center of Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Soon-ho) announced on the 29th that it has been conducting intensive crackdowns on illegal street vendors and piled-up items along the roadside since the 4th to revitalize the Beolgyo 5-day Market.

Beolgyo-eup's 5-day market (held on the 4th and 9th) had formed illegally as street vendors along the roadside in front of Beolgyo Station, causing traffic congestion, safety hazards, and frequent complaints.

The county legalized the illegal street vendors and prepared a space within the Beolgyo 5-day Market area to revitalize the market. They set a one-month transition period for active promotion, and about 50 members from social organizations including the Beolgyo-eup Administrative Welfare Center and Beolgyo Residents' Association participated in the crackdown on illegal street vendors and piled-up items.

A resident of Beolgyo-eup, Mr. Seo, said, "It was always difficult to pass in front of Beolgyo Station because of the street vendors, but with their relocation, traffic congestion has eased significantly. With the market moved to the space prepared by the county, it feels like the Beolgyo Market, which flourished in the 1980s, has returned, and now the market atmosphere is finally alive."

Meanwhile, the Beolgyo-eup Administrative Welfare Center also conducted a campaign to revitalize the traditional market on the 29th.
