[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Ulsan Mugeo Middle School held an upcycling event to promote environmental protection.
On the 27th, Mugeo Middle School conducted a plastic upcycling event in collaboration with the Korea Senior Workforce Development Institute under the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the local upcycling environmental companies, Elephant Factory.
Mugeo Middle School took on the task of collecting discarded plastic caps and sending them to upcycling companies, designating plastic caps as the currency for school events, and collected about 30 kg of plastic.
Through a student council-led upcycling campaign, activities such as collecting plastic caps and holding a donation market called "Junggoro-un Peace Country" were conducted to enhance understanding of the resource circulation process and establish a zero-waste culture.
The collected plastic was taken on the 27th by the student council and environmental club students to the local upcycling company Elephant Factory, where it was reprocessed into grip tok and key rings. The upcycled products will be provided to students.
Student Council President Lee Hyun-ji, who led the upcycling activities, said, "I will actively work to reduce plastic waste."
Principal Lee Gil-bae said, "We will continue to cooperate with eco-friendly organizations to become democratic citizens who practice environmental protection."
