Held on December 1 at Paju Traditional Architectural Materials Preservation Center
The Traditional Architecture Repair Technology Promotion Foundation, a special corporation under the Cultural Heritage Administration, in collaboration with the National Institute of Forest Science and the College of Agriculture, Life and Environment Sciences at Chungbuk National University, has published "Our Wood Used in Traditional Architecture" and will hold an academic symposium to commemorate this on the 1st of next month.
"Our Wood Used in Traditional Architecture" contains detailed dendrological and anatomical characteristics of 20 tree species widely used in wooden architecture, such as pine, zelkova, and oak, along with major traditional architectural cultural properties and architectural features of each species, accompanied by photographs.
Furthermore, the academic symposium, held on the 1st of next month at the Multipurpose Room of the Traditional Architectural Component Preservation Center in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, will present under the common theme "Understanding and Practice of Wood for the Conservation and Management of Wooden Architectural Cultural Properties." The presentations will be as follows: ▲ "Various Woods Used in Traditional Architecture" (Jeong Hyun-min, Traditional Architecture Repair Technology Promotion Foundation) ▲ "Wood Characteristics, Moisture Content, and Drying" (Kim Kwang-mo, National Institute of Forest Science) ▲ "Our Traditional Architecture Seen Through Tree Rings" (Seo Jeong-wook, Chungbuk National University) ▲ "Subterranean Termite Damage and Monitoring Status of Domestic Wooden Cultural Properties" (Lim Ik-gyun, Chungbuk National University).
