[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On Monday the 29th, the nation will be mostly cloudy, and fine dust concentrations will be high in the Seoul metropolitan area and central regions.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the country will be mostly cloudy, and due to stagnant air from the previous day, fine dust generated domestically is expected to accumulate, resulting in high concentrations in the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungcheong region.
Fine dust levels are forecasted to be 'bad' in the Seoul metropolitan area, North Chungcheong, and South Chungcheong, while other regions will range from good to moderate. Daejeon, Sejong, and Daegu are expected to temporarily reach 'bad' levels in the morning.
As of 7 a.m., temperatures in major areas are Seoul 2.9°C, Incheon 5.2°C, Suwon 2.6°C, Chuncheon -4.1°C, Gangneung 8.8°C, Cheongju 0.8°C, Daejeon -0.4°C, Jeonju 2.0°C, Gwangju 2.5°C, Daegu -0.1°C, Busan 8.3°C, Ulsan 3.2°C, Changwon 2.6°C, and Jeju 9.1°C.
The daytime high temperature is forecasted to be between 10 and 17 degrees Celsius. Starting from the early morning of Tuesday the 30th, rain will begin in the western regions, and as temperatures drop from the afternoon, the morning low temperature on that day is expected to be between 1 and 12 degrees Celsius.
The rain on the 30th will expand to most areas nationwide in the morning, and as temperatures fall, snow will begin to fall from 3 p.m. in eastern Gyeonggi and inland/mountain areas of Gangwon, from 6 p.m. in inland Chungcheong, eastern inland Jeolla, western inland Gyeongsang, and mountain areas of Jeju Island.
Expected snowfall amounts are 1 to 3 cm in inland and mountain areas of Gangwon, and around 1 cm in eastern Gyeonggi and mountain areas of Jeju Island. The southern coast, areas near Jirisan, and Jeju Island are expected to receive 10 to 50 mm of rain, while the nationwide expected precipitation is 5 to 30 mm.
A Korea Meteorological Administration official stated, "From the afternoon of the 30th, cold air will gradually move southward from the northwest, causing temperatures to drop sharply, and strong winds will make the wind chill even lower, resulting in cold conditions." They added, "Care should be taken for health management, including immune system weakening due to rapid temperature changes."
