[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, for apologizing repeatedly over the Daejang-dong development special favor allegations and the Moon Jae-in administration's real estate policies, saying, "Lee Jae-myung does not respond to his conscience but reacts to inverse relationships and approval ratings."

On the 27th, Jin posted on his Facebook, "If he apologizes, it is not an ethical phenomenon but merely a physical event and a statistical behavior," criticizing him in this way.

He said, "Even those who support him (candidate Lee) would admit this. Anyway, he is a scary person." He added, "This is a warning in advance. To those obsessed with partisan logic, think about the country."

Earlier, on the 22nd, candidate Lee bowed his head and said, "Regarding the criticism that I failed to prevent such a private corruption feast, I admit that saying I am not responsible was itself wrong," and "I apologize especially for the real estate issues and the increased suffering of youth and homeless citizens. I reflect on blaming others in a double standard manner."

Then, on the 24th, at a meeting for promoting livelihood and reform legislation held at the central party office in Yeouido, Seoul, he also performed a bow of apology, saying, "We will be reborn as a new Democratic Party."

On the 26th, regarding his history of defending his nephew in a mother-and-child murder case, he stated, "There was no intention to conceal the case by calling it dating violence. I fully understand the immeasurable pain caused by heinous crimes," and "I apologize for the hurt caused by my immature expression. Once again, I sincerely apologize to the victim's families."
