Assemblyman Heo Jong-sik, Selected as '2021 Excellent National Assembly Member' by the Democratic Party... 2 Consecutive Years Democratic Party of Korea Representative Heo Jong-sik

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Democratic Party lawmaker Heo Jongsik (Incheon Dong-gu Michuhol-gu Gap, Health and Welfare Committee) was selected as an 'Outstanding Member of the 2021 National Assembly Audit' of the 21st National Assembly by the Democratic Party. With this, Rep. Heo earned the honor of being an outstanding audit member for two consecutive years following last year.

Rep. Heo has been recognized for demonstrating his presence as a district lawmaker by calling Incheon regional issues to the audit stage and urging the central government to prepare countermeasures.

In the case of Incheon A Hospital, which caused a stir due to surrogate surgery, he tracked the background of the incident, including the fact that insurance benefits were still paid through medical treatment even after the doctor was booked, and that the indicted nursing assistant possessed child and adolescent sexual exploitation materials.

Regarding the child abuse case of a 3-year-old girl in Namdong-gu, Incheon, he urged the preparation of effective measures, pointing out that although the state was managing the case, it failed to prevent the death.

He also drew attention by summoning a government cabinet service report ('Investigation of Causes and Development of Solutions for the Obesity Rate Gap between Ongjin-gun and Bupyeong-gu, Incheon') to the audit stage, raising the need for customized health management policies for medically underserved areas such as island regions.

As local medical centers such as Incheon Medical Center were designated as COVID-19 dedicated hospitals, he analyzed big data to understand the medical usage status of low-income chronic disease patients who used these centers and called for measures to fill the medical gap for low-income groups.

In addition, he presented various regional issues including ▲ strengthening the public nature of Incheon Red Cross Hospital ▲ improving the dispatch rate of Incheon Doctor Helicopter ▲ controversy over KT&G hospital management voting rights at Cheongna Medical Complex Town ▲ controversy over minor building owners in Incheon (analysis of National Health Insurance Corporation data) ▲ forgery of PCR negative certificates (detected at Incheon Airport) ▲ improvement of special entry procedures at Incheon Airport (With Corona policy).

Rep. Heo Jongsik said, "This year's audit was conducted with the awareness of 'think globally, act locally,' and I tried to closely check and analyze the field situation to identify blind spots in government policies. I will closely monitor to ensure that the various proposals raised during the audit are properly implemented."

Meanwhile, Rep. Heo published a policy booklet during this audit to improve awareness of cancer survivors and prepare support measures for their economic activities, also urging the elimination of discrimination and prejudice against cancer survivors.
