[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] Foreign investors have shown buying momentum in the domestic stock market for four consecutive weeks.

According to the Korea Exchange on the 28th, foreign investors net purchased about 1.2405 trillion KRW in the domestic stock market during the week from the 22nd to the 26th. Foreign investors bought 1.1246 trillion KRW in the KOSPI market and 115.8 billion KRW in the KOSDAQ market, respectively.

The stock most purchased by foreign investors last week was Samsung Electronics. Foreign investors net bought Samsung Electronics for 841.3 billion KRW last week. This was followed by SK Hynix, which they bought for 429.8 billion KRW. Other stocks net purchased include Krafton (175.1 billion KRW), Kakao (117.3 billion KRW), DB Hitek (99.3 billion KRW), Kakao Games (82.7 billion KRW), HYBE (71.8 billion KRW), KB Financial Group (69.4 billion KRW), SK Bioscience (66.3 billion KRW), and SK (63.9 billion KRW).

The stock most sold by foreign investors last week was Naver (NAVER). Foreign investors net sold Naver for 206.4 billion KRW last week. This was followed by Kia, which they sold for 115.3 billion KRW. Other stocks among the top net sales by foreign investors include POSCO (71.7 billion KRW), Celltrion (62.2 billion KRW), Samsung Electro-Mechanics (46.2 billion KRW), LG Electronics (43.7 billion KRW), LG Chem (31.3 billion KRW), Hyundai Mobis (27.9 billion KRW), LG Household & Health Care (27.9 billion KRW), and PNT (25.6 billion KRW).

Amid concerns over interest rates suppressing the stock market, there is an opinion that any market correction should be seen as a buying opportunity for cyclical stocks. Kim Younghwan, a researcher at NH Investment & Securities, said, "The immediate risk facing the stock market is the concern over rising U.S. Treasury yields, which increases the discount rate burden on the stock market and can act as a factor for a correction. However, some signs of reversal, such as easing bottlenecks, have also been confirmed, so it is necessary to consider any correction as a buying opportunity for cyclical stocks."
