[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] The spread of COVID-19 has intensified since the phased return to normal life (With Corona) began. The number of confirmed cases to be announced on the 28th is expected to exceed 4,000.


According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, a total of 3,184 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were recorded nationwide from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day.


This figure represents the total confirmed cases from 16 out of 17 metropolitan cities and provinces, excluding Busan. Compared to the same time the previous day, when 3,281 cases were confirmed in 16 regions, it is 97 fewer, but it is 965 more than the 2,219 cases confirmed at the same time a week earlier on the 20th. Looking at the regions with confirmed cases on that day, 2,477 were in the metropolitan area and 707 in non-metropolitan areas.


The number of new confirmed cases to be announced as of midnight on the 28th is expected to increase further, approaching 4,000. The fourth domestic wave, which began in early July, has been ongoing for over four months.
